Registered pharmacy technician

Job Reference: 188-OTH1086-A

Employer:
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust
Department:
Oncology Pharmacy
Location:
Southampton General Hospital, Southampton
Salary:
£ 21,089 - £ 23,761 pa

An exciting job opportunity has arisen; we are looking for an enthusiastic technician to join the oncology centre pharmacy.

The post will involve working in our oncology pharmacy; as part of a team of experienced technicians and support workers, in preparing chemotherapy, prioritising and organising workload, performing inspection checks on products and maintaining and developing the appropriate documentation required within an aseptic unit.

The unit has implemented a state of the art IT compounding management system called ‘Medcura’. This is an exciting time in oncology pharmacy and you will be expected to integrate and make a positive contribution to the team who lead the pharmacy service to cancer care.

Technical training will be given in all relevant areas to support and develop your role, including intrathecal training, supervision of staff and leading a team, alongside training to gain a ‘Pre and In process checking’ accreditation. We are also in the process of implementing a new training package for ‘final product approval’ for technicians.

This is a B4 /B5 developmental role. In return we expect a commitment to personal development including self-directed learning.

Experience in Aseptic/Oncology preparation would be an advantage, but an opportunity to develop will be provided to help your specialist skills to evolve. We are keen to encourage you to develop as a person by offering you structured training and all the support and encouragement you’d expect from a leading teaching Trust. In oncology centre pharmacy we are continuously striving to develop staff on an individual level and as a team.

We are happy to consider Year 2 pre-registration pharmacy technicians due to obtain the NVQ3 ‘Diploma in Pharmaceutical Studies’ this year.

If you want to develop your career and enjoy your job, this is the place to be.

Closing date for applications is 4th July 2019
