Hours: Full or part- time considered

Contract: Permanent

We are seeking a Specialty Doctor to join our dedicated, friendly and welcoming multidisciplinary team, working regular sessions with participation in the weekend and evening on call rota.

Weston Hospicecare is here for people living with any life limiting illness, and their families. The Hospice offers expert care, guidance and support to help them get the most from the time they have left. The post holder will play an important medical role in the delivery of care to our 10 bedded in-patient unit, community and day patients in collaboration with medical colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team.

This post is an excellent opportunity to work in Palliative Medicine. The retirement of the current post holder presents a unique chance to develop the role and be involved in shaping the future of the service. Experience in the specialty is not essential but applicants must have an enthusiasm for palliative medicine. The post is suitable for doctors wishing to pursue a career in palliative medicine or for GPs looking to develop or continue a specialty interest.

In addition to clinical care, provision will be made for supporting your professional activities (SPA) to enable you to participate in teaching, audit/research, service development and continued professional development. Conditions of service include access to the NHS Pension Scheme subject to eligibility.

We are looking for the successful candidate to be able to start in March 2020 with possible participation in the on call rota from September 2019.

Full registration with GMC is essential and applicants are subject to an Enhanced DBS certificate.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
