We are looking for a Part Time Family Therapist to join our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) at The Huntercombe Hospital - Cotswold Spa, Broadway, located in an Area of outstanding Natural Beauty, just 6 miles from Evesham and 15 miles from Cheltenham and Worcester. The hospital is easily reached by road and is situated just 12 miles from Junction 9 of the M5 motorway.

The Huntercombe Hospital - Cotswold Spa, Broadway

The hospital is a specialist eating disorder facility that delivers treatment programmes for children, adolescents and young adults upwards from the age of eleven.

The building has been recently refurbished and is well appointed for all those accessing the service. There are educational facilities available for all our patients to access and many are able to continue their studies whilst being treated at the hospital.

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Family Therapist who will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver a high level of psycho-therapeutic care, to provide a qualified family therapy service to patients/residents and/or their carers.

This is mainly working with in-patients, but may also be with-out patients and day patients.

Job Purpose

Most patients and residents are referred via NHS and local authorities. We play an integral part in contributing to new models of care outlined in the Five Year Forward View.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Be clinically responsible for the assessment, treatment and discharge of patients/residents.

  • To provide consultation, supervision and support to other clinical members of the team who provide family based care and treatment

  • To assess patients/residents and manage clinical interventions as appropriate.

  • To plan and implement formal therapy treatment based on proven models of care.

  • To implement appropriate family therapy interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups.

  • To provide specialist family therapy advice, guidance and consultation to colleagues.

  • Undertake risk assessments and risk management for individual patients/residents.

  • To comply with infection, prevention and control protocol.

  • To be involved in audit and specific projects to inform best practice/evidence based practice.

  • To be involved in updating training resources and literature in line with current evidence.

  • To take appropriate action when working with vulnerable adults and children following guidelines and Trust procedures, liaising with appropriate agencies as required.

  • Maintain and contribute to the standards of professional care, ethics, policies and procedures.

  • To accurately record all patient intervention and plans in the medical notes.

  • Hold current UKPC registration

  • Hold a Qualification as a Family Therapist

  • Have knowledge and understanding of adolescent development

  • Have a person centred ethos, showing empathy and a desire to make a difference

  • Be able to demonstrate initiative and creativity

  • Be flexible and adaptable, well organised and able to manage time and workload effectively in line with the needs of the service
