We have a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic advanced dosimetrist to join our forward thinking radiotherapy physics team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS).

This would be a fantastic opportunity for an RCT registered clinical technologist or HCPC registered radiographer to take a lead role in the delivery and development of radiotherapy treatment planning services.


You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of our comprehensive radiotherapy services which include stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR), intraoperative electron and intraoperative photon radiotherapy, brachytherapy (including magnetic resonance (MR) guided interstitial high-dose rate (HDR) treatments for gynaecological malignancies, HDR and seed treatments for prostate malignancies). As well as helping to drive forward our intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) and adaptive radiotherapy programme to ensure the best treatment option is available to all patients. You will be encouraged to develop site specific expertise in an area of interest and will also contribute to teaching and training of other staff.

Radiotherapy physics service will be delivered across sites at Southampton General Hospital and Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital. Southampton is equipped with 6 linacs and 2 dedicated planning CTs and Basingstoke is equipped with a further linac and planning CT.

We are in the middle of our equipment replacement programme with 3 Elekta Versa HD, 2 with Exactrac imaging systems in clinical use and a further Versa HD clinical by the end of 2019. Planning is supported by Pinnacle treatment planning system.
