We are the largest provider of NHS services across the County of Cumbria. Around 3500 staff operate 60 community and mental health services from over 20 main sites and many other premises shared with other health or community services such as GP surgeries. In any one year we see around one fifth of the population providing health care services to people in Cumbria, from newborn babies to care of the frail and elderly. Our services are organised into care groups, designed to put clinicians in control of decision making with patients and carers so that services are run by experts in the clinical area.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Practitioner to join the Strengthening Families (SF) team in East Cumbria (Carlisle and Eden area) for25.5 hours per week. This co-commissioned service is dedicated to working with Cumbria’s most vulnerable families, children and young people who are subject to statutory plans within the Child Protection, Child in Need, Children Looked After frameworks and families who have come to Cumbria as part of the national Syrian Refugee Resettlement Program (SRRP). The post holder will also work with children and young people open to the Youth Offending Service. This ground breaking, partnership approach to meeting the health needs of Cumbrian families, is based on a model of holistic family care, where the family are partners in the achievement of outcomes.

The successful candidate will be an NMC Registered Nurse. This post would suit someone with a background in CAMHs, School Nursing, Health Visiting or Learning Disabilities and with recent experience of working with children and young people.

You will need to be tenacious, reliable and have excellent communication skills. You will need to be able to work independently and as part of a team. You will need to work collaboratively with other agencies.

You will be working with a multi–agency, system-wide team whose aim is to work towards improving the life chances for vulnerable children and young people.
