The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS foundation trust is located in Birmingham and is an independent foundation trust providing high quality and multidisciplinary care for patients undergoing Orthopaedic, Spinal (including complex spine) and oncological surgery for musculoskeletal tumours. The Trust is a tertiary referral center for both musculo-skeletal oncology and spinal surgery and a significant experience in both areas is desirable.

Applications are invited for highly motivated individuals to join our department. We have 22 consultants, 5 SAS doctors, 3 Physicians Assistants in Anaesthesia & 2 rotating registrars from the Birmingham school of Anaesthesia. These are whole time consultant roles (10 PA’s) and to support development of roles and 7-day working weeks. Should the successful candidates wish to work 11 programed activities, suitable adjustments can be made to the service provision timetable. On-call commitment equate to 1:8 which involves covering theatres and critical care services.

The successful applicant will be expected to complement and expand the existing services within the department. A particular emphasis will be placed upon Critical care outreach, acute pain and pre-operative assessment. You will be expected to contribute to audit, teaching and research within the department and adequate time for these activities are included within the job plan. Applicants should hold FRCA or equivalent and be on the GMC Specialist Register with Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). Consideration will be given to suitable applicants within six months of CCT, provided arrangements can be made with the respective Deanery.
