Nursery Assistant (apprentice)

£15,812 rising after 6 months to £18,665 per annum inclusive pro rata

We have recently relocated to a new purpose built building. We are looking for an apprentice Nursery Assistant at the Staff Nursery at Great Ormond Street Hospital. The role will involve working to provide a positive environment, fostering children's all round development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To act as a key worker to named children

  • carrying out observations/developmental reports for each child and liaising with parents regularly

  • Working in partnership with the team and with parents, acting as a positive and professional role model to colleagues and children

The successful applicant will have good knowledge of child care development and awareness of children's needs. It is also important that the individual has good written and verbal communication skills, the ability to follow instructions and to work under own initiative as necessary.

This role will involve working varying shifts, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 7am and 7pm - some flexibility is required.

Applicants must have GCSE in English and Maths grade C or above (or equivalent), evidence (e.g. certificates) must be provided prior to interview.

The successful candidate will be provided with the opportunity to complete a fully certified Intermediate Apprenticeship (level 2) in Children and Young People's Workforce. This Apprenticeship is funded for the duration of 12 months
