Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’ in the caring domain for inpatient services (April 2019) a newly created opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Clinical Occupational Therapist in our adult mental health inpatient intensive care service.

This role will pioneer a new way of working at Oxleas House by:

  • Introducing ward based Occupational Therapy across seven days including evenings (up till 8pm), weekends and public holidays for the Band 5 Occupational Therapists, OT support workers and students

  • Being ‘part of the numbers’ to enhance working relationships with the multidisciplinary team
  • Undertaking Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) training to optimise safety on Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
  • Improving responsiveness to service user and carer needs
  • Promoting a positive therapeutic culture on the PICU providing specialist Occupational Therapy assessment, treatment and intervention
  • Enhancing service user experience and engagement in acute mental health
  • Offering flexible working opportunities in conjunction with meeting service needs

The Band 6 Clinical Occupational Therapist will be offered:

  • Line management, professional and clinical supervision in line with Guidance from the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT)
  • Annual Personal Development Review (PDR)
  • Professional career development opportunities through training
  • Encouragement to contribute and lead on service development and innovation projects
  • Opportunity to attend the annual Oxleas Therapies Conference with Allied Health Professionals and Psychological Therapists in the Therapies Directorate
  • Wider communication with the Trust via the quarterly Oxleas Occupational Therapy Newsletter
