Want to make a real difference? You couldn’t be in better company.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Dentist at Smile Together Dental CIC, working within our West Country Dental Care team. This is due to the retirement of the existing post holder who has worked in this role for over 20 years.

Reporting to our Clinical Director, this position will suit someone who has experience in providing dental services to vulnerable children and adults resident in Cornwall as well as visitors to the county.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provision of community dentistry with an interest in special care dentistry

  • Treatment of referred patients – including provision of treatment with sedation and general anesthesia as deemed necessary for adults and children

  • Participation in appropriate oral health promotion activities

  • Team working with dental health professionals and other health, social care and care professionals

  • Active participation in audit activities and in-house meetings

  • Responsibility for safe working and practice on a day-to-day basis in clinical work, ensuring compliance with clinical governance, legislation and Smile Together policies

  • Mentoring and training other members of the dental team

  • Triaging of referrals into the service

  • Other reasonable duties as requested by the Clinical Director

It’s never been a more exciting time to join us – we’re having a major impact in the county and we’re different!

Covering Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Smile Together is one of the South West’s largest NHS referral and emergency primary dental care providers. Our West Country Dental Care team provides urgent dental treatments for people who don’t have their own dentist, run out-of-hours surgeries and apply expert skills to treat children and adults with a range of special care needs alongside oral surgery, children’s orthodontics and treatments under general anaesthetic in a hospital setting. Under our Brighter Dental brand we provide competitively priced private dentistry from practices based in the heart of their communities, and we own a specialist dental laboratory DPS (Dental Prosthetic Solutions).

An award-winning and innovative organisation, we function as an employee-owned community interest company and social enterprise with clear rules about reinvesting our profits back into the community. Our Brighter Smiles campaign brings practical tooth-brushing clubs, fluoride varnishing and oral health education to children in areas of high decay across Cornish communities, and we reach further into our communities with outreach activities such as Smiles At Sea.

We’re a committed and friendly team that puts our people and patients first – join us in providing a valued dental service in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
