For over four decades Mountbatten Hampshire (formerly Countess Mountbatten Hospice) have provided outstanding end of lifecare to its community and its services have made a huge impact on many families lives across Hampshire.

The journey towards end of life can be a complex one. Medical advances and changes in family lives mean that the care we provide to our patients and their families constantly evolves to meet the needs and expectations of our Community. Over the last year, Mountbatten Isle of Wight and Mountbatten Hampshire, have developed a unique partnership, with one senior team leading both organisations.

At Mountbatten Hampshire we pride ourselves on delivering the highest standard of care and support to patients and their families, and constantly strive to ensure we reach as many people as possible, whenever and wherever they may need us. The hospice serves a population of approximately 600,000 and covers Southampton, and parts of West Hampshire. We are a registered charity and company, with our community at the heart of our services.

Currently we have a 25 bedded In-Patient Unit (IPU), a large day, self-help and rehabilitation centre, a community nursing team, Psychosocial care & Bereavement service and an education team. However, our services and approach to care are being constantly developed and expanded to meet the growing demands of increasingly complex health issues and the needs of the community we serve.


Admin Support Officer – Volunteer Patient Transport Services

30 hours per week

Salary up to £15,200 per annum, depending upon experience and qualifications(Band 2, AFC)

About the role

This role provides a comprehensive administration service for Countess Mountbatten Hospice (Mountbatten) to ensure the smooth day-to-day service provisions of Volunteer Services. Always providing a positive and friendly image to all visitors, volunteers and employees, either in person or via the telephone.

This is a very busy role, working with complex systems and with a large and varied workload. We are therefore looking for someone enthusiastic and excited to take on a new challenge.

About you

You will have excellent customer service skills with a professional and pleasant manner. You will be a very valuable member of the Administration team and assist in the provision of a high standard administrative service. A flexible approach to working routines, the ability to do a variety of tasks at one time and to work within a team and also alone is essential.

You will be required to work 30 hours per week flexibly between Monday – Friday 8:30am to 4.30pm working on a basis of 7.5 hours per day.

You will be required to attend and maintain regular training courses and to follow the policies and procedures set down by Countess Mountbatten Hospice.

Previous experience of working in a Charity environment and experience of processing volunteer applications is desirable, but training will be provided to enhance the post holder’s skill set.
