An opportunity has arisen for a new Band 8B Principal Clinical Psychologists to provide a clinical psychology service to the newly established Secure Service FOLS team for LD. The successful applicants will spend their time across the Learning Disability services for the Secure Services on the Fieldhead Hospital site in Wakefield, and potentially across the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Services (ICS) foot print (West Yorkshire, Bradford, Leeds SWYT and Barnsley).The Principal Clinical Psychologist will be responsible for the provision and co-ordination of direct therapeutic interventions to the clinical teams with which they will be aligned to the Inpatient Forensic LD wards, as well providing consultation, supervision and training to the service.

Experience of working with complex LD and mental health needs and of working in secure settings would be desirable but enthusiasm for working with this client group is essential as well as the ability to develop and communicate complex formulations.This post present an opportunity for the successful candidates to develop both their clinical and service related skills, within the context of secure settings and supporting the service users into the community, assessments to prevent admission and managing risk in as safe a way as possible in the community, and avoiding the criminal justice system.

The successful candidates will work under the overall clinical governance and guidance of the Forensic Business Delivery Unit’s lead psychologist and will have regular access to clinical supervision. They will be line managed by the Low Secure Service’s general manager. The service is committed to supporting excellence through continuing professional development and will work to develop competencies in line with need.We enjoy close links with the doctorate course in Clinical Psychology at Leeds University, both contributing to teaching on the course and offering regular placements to doctoral trainees.
