The Procurement Department at Wirral University Teaching Hospital has a vacancy for an experienced Buyer to join the team. Procurement is recognised by the Trust as a key enabler of transformational business change and this post presents an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to support the procurement workstream for Indirect spend.

The post holder will work closely with the Divisions and finance team to identify opportunities and deliver procurement schemes to improve patient care and outcomes and deliver savings for the Procurement work stream of the Trust’s Cost Improvement Programme.

The post holder will be a highly motivated individual able to work independently and interdependently with procurement colleagues, clinicians, project groups and wider stakeholders to ensure that the dual objectives of delivering excellent patient care and delivering savings and efficiencies are met.

The successful candidate will be qualified (as a minimum) to CIPS Advanced Diploma level and be willing to study for Professional Level Diploma if not fully qualified, will have demonstrable experience of leading a range of successful procurement initiatives, and the ability and commitment to manage a demanding and full programme of work. The post holder will be accountable for the successful delivery of their own work plan and will be used to working within a procurement environment that is rigorously performance managed.

The successful candidate will have proven experience of managing procurement exercises for a wide range of non-clinical products and services, and will have practical experience of conducting EU compliant tendering exercises. They will also possess the excellent communication and inter-personal skills necessary to represent the Procurement Department at meetings and events with internal and external stakeholders.
