Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow in Cardiology (Specialty Trainee level).

The post is based at the Arrowe Park Hospital and is for a fixed term period up to 31 August 2020. The Trust operates in 3 sites of which Arrowe park Hospital is a large university teaching hospital providing a comprehensive range of invasive and non-invasive cardiac services.

Diagnostic angiography and permanent pacing is performed onsite in a modern biplane catheter laboratory. There is a busy echocardiography service providing the full range of echo services including TOE, contrast, stress and 3D echocardiography. There is onsite Cardiac CT utilizing a state of the art dual source CT scanner.

You will join a team of Cardiology Consultants, Cardiology Middle Grades (STRs and Associate specialists) and Junior medical staff. The post will offer similar training opportunities to Registrar in Cardiology.

Depending on the candidates’ requirements, training is available in diagnostic angiography, permanent pacemaker implantation and echocardiography. There is also an opportunity to participate in a clinical research project in heart failure and arrhythmias. There is no on-call commitment or any commitment to GIM. Although this post is currently not recognized for specialist training, there are excellent training opportunities available and we will strongly support the candidate in securing an NTN in Cardiology.

Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a licence to practise. The appointee must be able to demonstrate immunity to Hepatitis B, and will be subject to clearance by the Criminal Records Bureau.

Wirral peninsula is an extremely attractive and sought after location with excellent schools and leisure facilities. It enjoys proximity to exciting cities such as Chester, Liverpool and Manchester with good rail and road links to rest of the country and yet maintains its rural character.
