Staff Nurse – Specialist Respiratory Wards

If you’re interested in Respiratory Nursing, Royal Papworth Hospital is the place to be.

  • Respiratory Sleep and Support Centre-We are one of the largest units in the UK providing non-invasive ventilation for patients with lung disease and neuromuscular disorders and we support over 1500 patients on long term home ventilation, we have 3 HDU beds for weaning patients from long term invasive ventilation and we also run the UK’s largest sleep centre for the provision of ventilatory support and sleep medicine.
  • Cystic Fibrosis and lung defence-we are the regional centre for young adults with CF and we also deliver in-patient and ambulatory care to patients with non CF chronic lung infections.
  • Chest Medical Unit-Papworth is a designated centre for the diagnosis and treatment of Pulmonary Hypertension. We are the national centre for the specialist lung surgery Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy (PTE) and Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty (BPA), and we also perform more heart and lung transplants than any other UK centre. We are the regional centre for patients with Interstitial Lung Disease and diagnostic Oncology.

As a respiratory nurse at Royal Papworth Hospital, you’ll be part of an expert team of nurses, consultants, respiratory physiologists, surgeons and other professionals, all working together to deliver excellent patient care. In our new hospital, you’ll have access to the very latest medical equipment and provide care to patients in a modern, purpose-built environment.

As a respiratory nurse at Royal Papworth Hospital, no two days are the same. You could be caring for a patient who has travelled across the country for a brand new procedure, or someone who has just been called in for a much-awaited lung transplant. You’ll get the chance to work in emergency situations, but you’ll also be able to build rewarding connections with patients suffering from long-term conditions.
