Senior Occupational Therapist

Job Reference: 363-NEW5062-A

East London NHS Foundation Trust
Community Recovery Team North,
£34,961 to 39,525 pa inc HCA

ELFT (East London NHS Foundation Trust) is making a positive difference to thousands of people’s lives, providing support so that they can fulfil their potential and enjoy healthy lives.

Following promotion of the existing post-holder, the Newham directorate is looking for an additional Adult Mental Health Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist to work as part of our team with a main responsibility linking into our North Community Recovery Team.

This is a great opportunity for an innovative, self-starting OT - either a talented Band 5 or a Band 6 looking for more OT specific role.
The OTs in the Newham directorate are expected to make a significant contribution to service users' recovery plans and support move on out of secondary care mental health services back to more independent living in the community. It is intended that these service aims are achieved via a variety of OT specific and specialist interventions. There is no care co-ordination, but the service works closely with care co-ordinator and therapy colleagues to collaborate in the best interests of all.

Newham developed an innovative community group programme as part of a major restructuring in 2016. The OT service contributes significantly to this. Interest and skills in group work are therefore essential.
The service is in a healthy state, with good team-working and lots of opportunity to develop new skills through training or alongside more experienced colleagues (OTs, other professionals and experts by experience). There are a variety of service development and quality-improvement projects available at all times. On the other hand, Newham is a demanding borough in which to work. Those looking for an easy life need not apply!
