BMI Huddersfield Hospital is part of BMI Healthcare, Britain's largest provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

BMI Huddersfieldis a busy surgical hospital that specialises in a wide variety of orthopaedic and surgery. The hospital has 29 beds with all rooms offering the privacy and comfort of en-suite facilities, 2 operating theatres, a diagnostic imaging department and offers a range of Outpatients procedures. It is a particularly exciting time to join BMI Huddersfield as the hospital is undergoing a major re-development programme to improve patient services and the Director of Clinical Services will play a key role in moving this forward.

You key responsibility asDirector of Clinical Serviceswill be to lead the clinical teams of staff across BMI Huddersfield. You will report into the Hospital Executive Director and provide strong clinical leadership across the Wards, Theatre, Physio, Imaging and Outpatients departments. The role will be offered on a full-time basis (covering a flexible shift pattern of 37.5 hours a week).

Duties of this role will include but not be limited to:

  • Responsible for providing clinical direction and strong professional leadership to all Nursing and Clinical staff within the hospital. To lead and drive the delivery of excellent clinical standards of care, driving a culture of patient safety, clinical effectiveness and continuous improvement for the patient experience.
  • Having responsibility and accountability for the financial management of all Clinical Services, maximising the financial performance of the clinical departments whilst maintaining high standards of service delivery, in accordance with legal and professional standard
  • As a member of the Senior Management Team, the Director of Clinical Services works with the Executive Director and Director of Operations/Operations Manager, to create and deliver the strategic, operational and business development plan for the hospital, and to create and deliver the annual strategic and operational plan – driving hospital EBITDA in line with BMI targets
  • Taking responsibility for the clinical departments compliance with health and safety
  • Taking responsibility for hospital compliance with quality, governance and policies, and internal audits
  • Leading the team to deliver care that helps improve the health of the individual and wider community
  • Leading the team in demonstrating compassion through effective relationships based on empathy, respect and dignity

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Registered Nurse Level 1 or Registered Practitioner / Diploma / relevant Health Speciality Degree/ Degree Level qualification
  • Have a proven track record of delivery of clinical services in an acute-care setting which must include significant managerial responsibility across multiple departments - preferably in a Director of Nursing or Director of Clinical Services role
  • Awareness of NMC Code of Accountability and HCPC Standards of Proficiency and the HCPC / GPC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics
  • Evidence of relevant professional development, both clinically, managerially, preferably evidenced by a registered qualification with the NMC, HCPC or GPC
  • Willingness to work towards a higher leadership and management qualification
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, including risk management, clinical governance, people management
  • Results driven, possessing a proven track record of delivering against targets
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good financial awareness including business planning and budgetary control

Salary & Benefits:
