An exciting opportunity has arisen for an efficient and committed person to join the pharmacy clinical trials team as a clinical trial administrator at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). This opportunity if offered on full time, permanent basis.

You will work in the busy pharmacy clinical trials team based at Southampton General Hospital. UHS is very active in clinical research, with over 250 clinical trials currently recruiting; we support both commercial and non-commercial National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) adopted clinical trials within our dedicated department.

The role involves collation of data for clinical trial activities performed in each study and creating invoices accordingly, creating credit notes as necessary and organising monitoring and close out visits as required by the trial sponsor. The post holder will also be involved in liaising with oncology/haematology staff over patient identification and treatment schedule, prescription requirements; ensuring sufficient IMP supplies are available as well as processing of deliveries.


  • Educated to A Level, NVQ level 3, City & Guilds Certificate in business administration or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of computer software packages, including Microsoft Office – Word and Excel.
  • Able to work as part of a team as well as using own initiative.
  • Able to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Ideally candidates will have proven experience within a clinical trials or an office environment.
