An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the endoscopy team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). This is an innovative role, where you will contribute to practice education for clinical nursing and acute care skills within the endoscopy department. If you have an interest in clinical education and are keen to develop new skills, then this could be the role for you!




You must be able to demonstrate proven experience of working in an acute clinical environment. Experience within the endoscopy speciality is desirable but not essential.




This role will be split between clinical time as a band 6 sister/charge nurse in the unit and protected time as a nurse educator in endoscopy where your responsibilities will include:




    • Supporting individual staff in their skill development through supervisory practice and training sessions.


    • Carrying out practice based assessments for staff.


    • Continued development of current assessment frameworks and training programmes in the endoscopy unit.


    • Support the embedding of the new JETS programme for endoscopy nurses into the service.


    • Continuing to development, organise and facilitate training programmes for the endoscopy nursing team.


    • Working with the divisional education team to deliver endoscopy awareness sessions across the division and trust.






Evidence that you can build and maintain good relationships with all multi professional teams is essential. You will need to be able to demonstrate that you have the ability to challenge practice.




The post holder will be expected to work in partnership with the senior nurse team within endoscopy as well as the divisional education lead; to empower staff to deliver high quality evidence based nursing care to all our patients.
