We are currently looking to appoint a Lay Member for Patient and Public Involvement.




Since 1 April 2013 Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) have been the leaders of healthcare commissioning in the NHS. As a CCG we work with patients and healthcare professionals and in partnership with local communities and local authorities to commission services for all of the patients registered with our member GP practices in addition to arranging emergency and urgent care services within our area. The CCG currently serves a population of 556,000 with an annual budget of £889M. It commissions services from a diverse range of providers across the city and has delegated commissioning responsibility for primary care medical services. The CCG is in a period of restructuring as a ‘strategic commissioner’ as place based commissioning develops.




As a Lay member on our Governing Body you hold a critical role. Your focus will be strategic and impartial, providing an external view of our work that is removed from the day-to-day running of the organisation. As with all our Governing Body members, you will have a key responsibility in ensuring the CCG has a strong focus on improving health outcomes, addressing inequalities and variations in health outcomes and experience and delivering value for the population of Liverpool.
