The Clinical Research Division (CRD) at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to recruit an experienced Finance Assistant on a short-term basis to support the day to day requirements of the CRD. The role forms an integral part of the core team that work throughout the hospital to deliver high quality clinical research studies across all disciplines. The purpose of this post is to support and assist the delivery of Alder Hey research studies. This role supports the budgetary administration and control of financial information systems in respect of all research income and expenditure associated with the portfolio at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. The post-holder will monitor study budgets both commercial and non-commercial including Alder Hey sponsored studies, prepare and assist with the interpretation of financial information and report writing ensuring that the data is accurate, meaningful and timely. The role includes budget forecasting and review of the accounts to ensure they are accurate and meet reporting deadlines and statutory/regulatory requirements. Ensuring that local costs are translated into contracts accurately and that contracts are executed in a timely manner for Sponsors is an important part of the role. Contract administration also relates to Alder Hey sponsored studies and external site collaborators. The role is supported by the CRD Business Accountant and the CRD Senior Management team on a day to day basis. Providing the main source of support to the Senior Research Team, the post holder is responsible for Income generation, budget management amongst other general day to day finance tasks. They will be expected to work with minimum supervision, demonstrate flexibility and use their own initiative to carry out duties in such a way as to make a direct and positive contribution to the organisation, thus enabling the senior CRD Research Team to utilise their time in an efficient and effective manner.
