Applications are invited for the Post of Clinical Psychologist in Pain Management and Neuromodulation this post is a permanent position. The Pain Management Service offers a full range of chronic pain services, including neuromodulation with neurostimulation and intrathecal drug delivery.

Other pain management services include an out-patient pain management programme, drug management, physiotherapy, psychology, acupuncture and TENS. We have weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist with a special interest in Pain Management to contribute to a well established Pain Management and Neuromodulation service. The post holder would be based in Orsett with some travel to our partner sites of Chelmsford and Southend anticipated. They would be expected to work as part of an MDT team providing specialist psychological assessment, individual and group therapy, working autonomously within professional guidelines exercising responsibility for the governance of psychological practise within the service/team.

The post holder would be expected to participate in systematic clinical governance and to offer clinical supervision to assistant, trainee and more junior psychologists and other staff members within the pain management service. In addition there are a number of research projects ongoing it would be anticipated that the successful applicant would be encouraged to utilise research skills for audit, service development and research within the field of pain management.

The Pain Management Service (PMS) serves a population of 350,000 across South West Essex and offers Neuromodulation services to Essex (Population 1.8 Million) and beyond. It is staffed by two Consultants, Dr Simon Thomson, Full Time Pain Medicine and Dr Malvern May, Part Time Pain Medicine and one Locum Consultant, Dr Lalith Jayasekera, part time Pain Medicine. The PMS is managed and supported by a team of Nurse Specialists in Pain Management. The service also has full time specialist Physiotherapy.

Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Trust has an ongoing commitment to first class service delivery and innovative long-term initiatives and has Associate University Hospital Teaching Status with University College London.

The Trust is situated in the South East of England, close to London and the M25.
