For over four decades Mountbatten Hampshire (formerly Countess Mountbatten Hospice) have provided outstanding end of lifecare to its community and its services have made a huge impact on many families lives across Hampshire.

The journey towards end of life can be a complex one. Medical advances and changes in family lives mean that the care we provide to our patients and their families constantly evolves to meet the needs and expectations of our Community. Over the last year, Mountbatten Isle of Wight and Mountbatten Hampshire, have developed a unique partnership, with one senior team leading both organisations.

At Mountbatten Hampshire we pride ourselves on delivering the highest standard of care and support to patients and their families, and constantly strive to ensure we reach as many people as possible, whenever and wherever they may need us. The hospice serves a population of approximately 600,000 and covers Southampton, and parts of West Hampshire. We are a registered charity and company, with our community at the heart of our services.

Currently we have a 25 bedded In-Patient Unit (IPU), a large day, self-help and rehabilitation centre, a community nursing team, Psychosocial care & Bereavement service and an education team. However, our services and approach to care are being constantly developed and expanded to meet the growing demands of increasingly complex health issues and the needs of the community we serve.

SPIRITUAL CARE LEAD

Salary up to £37,267.00 per annum depending on expereince

We are seeking to appoint a Spiritual Care Lead to join our newly established Psycho-Social and Spiritual Care team at Countess Mountbatten Hospice, Southampton.

We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic individual to lead and develop our pastoral and spiritual care across all the inpatient and community services.

You will be a compassionate, empathetic, prayerful and experienced spiritual care professional, who can work as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet spiritual, emotional, physical, and psychological needs of our patients, their families, employees and volunteers.

As part of our team you will be able to lead and manage the development of Spiritual Care across all our services using a engaging, creative and innovative approach, while working within national guidelines.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and highly developed self-awareness and be capable of managing emotionally intense situations with sensitivity.

In addition, you will be in good standing with your own spiritual and/or religious tradition and able to engage and build relationships with local faith communities and groups. Lead projects and events to strengthen the pastoral and spiritual care at Countess Mountbatten Hospice. The ability to deliver sensitive and effective support in bereavement is essential.

The ability to participate in weekend working and the out of hours’ on-call rota is essential. Candidates will be car owners and hold a valid UK driving licence.
