In 2002 Inclusion was created as part of the award winning South Staffordshire & Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, now known as Midlands Partnership Foundation NHS Trust. It was developed to provide evidence based innovative services to beneficiaries across England with the flexibility to provide local solutions to local communities but with the governance and commitment to quality of the NHS.

Successful in its endeavors, Inclusion has grown to provide drug and alcohol and sexual health, mental health services in the community, and prisons. Employing over 750 staff, including Psychiatrists, Counsellors, Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, Allied Health Professionals,Therapists, Drug & Alcohol Recovery Workers, Peer Mentors and Volunteers. We provide services to in excess of 19,000 services users per annum across the South East, Midlands, East of England and North of England.

The range of services we provide allows us to work with our service users in prisons, extending this into community settings, tackling both substance misuse and mental health concerns. Band 8b Highly Specialist Clinical/Counselling Psychologist (with Divisional Strategic Responsibilities)

This is an exciting opportunity for Highly Specialist Clinical/Counselling Psychologists to join our Mental Health & Substance misuse services within Staffordshire Prisons.

We are looking to recruit creative and forward-thinking Psychologists to the Inclusion Mental Health and Substance Misuse Teams to help us make a real difference to the lives of people in our care.

We are recruiting 2 full- time Highly Specialist Psychologists to lead the development of Psychological services across our Staffordshire Prisons. The exact location and model of service delivery will be developed in collaboration with successful applicants.

Inclusion provides services in prisons across the country. The Staffordshire and Worcestershire region currently works across 10 prisons. We have psychologists and assistant Psychologists in post across some of the prisons. Inclusion has a lead Consultant Psychologist who works closely with us to support the development of psychologically informed services.

This is a great opportunity to use both leadership/management and clinical skills to lead and support the further development of Psychological Services within our Staffordshire prisons.


Our team prides itself in offering:

• Monthly operational management and caseload supervision;

• Clinical supervision to support specialist skills development;

• Multidisciplinary team working/ skill mix/ opportunities for team development;

• CPD opportunities.

Successful applicants will be joining a team of psychologists and assistant psychologists led by a Consultant Psychologist. This is a great opportunity to be part of a service implementing a way of working that is psychologically driven and trauma informed.

This role will appeal to people who have a special interest in working with people with complex presentations, who have a special interest in working with trauma and attachment and using their psychological skills to implement changes to ways of working within teams.

If you are looking for an opportunity use your skills in working with service users with complex needs (including complex trauma, substance misuse and dual diagnosis) and have an interest in developing the skills of assistant psychologists, junior Psychologists and other professionals within a prison mental health and substance misuse service we would love to hear from you

Successful applicants will work as part of a full multi-disciplinary and fully integrated Mental Health and Substance Misuse Service. Interventions are offered in line with a stepped care model with a single point of access for prisoners experiencing mental health or substance misuse difficulties and will be joining the supportive inclusion psychology team who meet regularly to explore issues and collaborate on research or development projects. We will support your access regular clinical supervision and appropriate professional development. There are opportunities to develop and deliver group work and to shape ongoing service development.

Experience of working with people in a secure forensic or criminal justice setting would be advantageous but not essential. We recognise that skills are often transferable and that prison is only one part of our service user’s journey.
