Band 5 Recovery practitioner

Are you looking for a new challenge?  We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Band 5 Operating Department Practitioner or Registered nurses, to join our busy Post anaesthetic care unit team.  We currently have 12 inpatient theatres, which incorporates a busy emergency theatre that runs 24/7 our specialities include: Cardiac Surgery, Spinal Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, General Surgery, Urology, Burns & Plastics Surgery, Craniofacial Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmic Surgery, Cleft lip and palate Surgery, Interventional Radiology. We also have a busy day surgery unit comprising of another 4 theatres and a treatment room. We welcome applicants from adult and critical care background, on-call commitment is required.

As world leader in healthcare and research we have built something amazing – a brand new Alder Hey in the park, a hospital for children, designed and inspired by children. We treat 250,000 young patients a year and safely perform over 13,000 surgical procedures.

We are a dedicated paediatric Major trauma centre and regional neonatal surgical centre, children from all over the UK and the world visit Alder Hey for specialist treatment.

We currently have 12 inpatient theatres, which incorporates a busy emergency theatre that runs 24/7 so weekend and twilight would form part of your shift pattern along with full on call commitment.

Our specialties include: cardiac surgery, spinal surgery, orthopaedic surgery, ENT, Ophthalmic surgery, cleft lip and palate surgery and Interventional Radiology.

We also have a very busy day surgery unit comprising of a further 4 theatre’s and a treatment room.

Paediatric experience is not essential, we will provide full, we offer an excellent induction programme which includes supernumerary preceptorship ensure competencies are achieved, plus you will have access to ongoing CPD and training opportunities provided by our dedicated theatre education team.

 Our catchment area has a population of over 7m, stretching from Cumbria, through Lancashire, Merseyside, most of Cheshire, parts of Shropshire, North Wales and the Isle of Man.

Children from virtually every part of the UK, and also from around the world, visit Alder Hey for specialist treatment. As a result, we are recognised as Centre of Excellence for children with cancer, heart, spinal and brain disease and have been designated as a national centre for craniofacial surgery and epilepsy surgery by the Department of Health.

With a world class £237 million facility opened in October 2016 we are now looking to expand our dedicated recovery team by recruiting motivated, dynamic senior recovery practitioners who are committed to delivering excellent patient care. As the only hospital in the region that performs all surgical specialities this is a fantastic opportunity for experienced theatre staff to expand their existing skills and knowledge not only in paediatrics but also a diverse and challenging range of specialities.

As a department we focus on patient safety, excellence and staff well-being so we are looking for individuals who have these values at the heart of all they do. In return we offer a clearly defined training and development package which includes a four week supernumerary preceptorship scheme for all new band 6 practitioners. We have strong links with the local HEI’s and provide you with access to a range of post registration modules and pathways including specialist paediatric theatre modules.

With an innovative workforce development strategy we offer a clear pathway from band 2 through to band 8b.
