Spinal Clinical Fellow

As a leader in child healthcare and research, Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust provides care for more than 275,000 children and young people each year, making us one of the biggest and busiest children’s hospitals in Europe.

Our state-of-the-art hospital, on our main site in Liverpool, opened in October 2015. It sets a new benchmark within the NHS and has won many prestigious industry awards. Buildings, however, are only as good as what happens inside them. Our highly professional, skilled staff include some of the best clinicians in their field in the world. This expertise is combined with a care and compassion, evident in all of our staff, that our patients and families tell us is unique.

The 6 or 12 month fellowships with possible start dates of August 2019, Feb 2020, August 2020, Feb 2021 and August 2021 are designed to provide training for those orthopaedic surgeons who have carried out their preliminary training and obtained a fellowship of a Royal College who wish to specialise in spinal surgery. The Orthopaedic Department at Alder Hey Children's (NHS) Foundation trust is a major paediatric orthopaedic department in the UK. The fellow will be working with the staff of the Orthopaedic Department all of whom possess appropriate postgraduate qualifications.

Any informal enquiries or further information can be obtained from:

Neil Davidson, Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon Maisie St John, Service Manager

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
