Clinical Liaison Nurse

Job Reference: 425-A-19-28703

Employer:
Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust
Department:
Clinical Chemistry
Location:
Sheffield
Salary:
£30,401 to £37,267 per annum pro rata

The Department of Clinical Chemistry comprises a team of 60 staff who are committed to delivering an efficient, high quality diagnostic service. It is a busy, friendly department. We have an excellent reputation as a specialist laboratory and provide a comprehensive metabolic analytical service along with regional newborn screening, as well as the routine Clinical Chemistry service to the Children’s Hospital and paediatric patients from local GP practices.

This is an essential role that links the work of the laboratory to the management and care of patients. The successful postholder will act as the primary point of contact for patients and their families with the laboratory, both for newly referred families, and those with PKU who are followed up for life. There is also a significant element of community working within this role, and attendance at clinics at other trusts within the region which may take the postholder away from base for a large proportion of their working time. Duties will also include the communication of screening results and the provision of specialist education, training, advice and information to patients, families and other members of a multi-disciplinary team.

The postholder will be based in the department but must have the flexibility to travel throughout the region, sometimes at short notice. It is essential that the successful applicant holds a full UK driving licence, and has access to a car. Mileage costs can be reclaimed in full in line with Trust policies.

All communication throughout the application process will be via e-mail therefore please check your e-mail account and NHS Jobs account regularly. References are also requested by email (where possible). Therefore, to speed up the recruitment process please provide an email address for all referees when completing your application form.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. If a DBS check is required for the post you are applying for any offer of employment will be provisional on a satisfactory DBS check being obtained.

In line with other NHS Organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber Region a successful candidate appointed into a post within this Trust will be required to pay the DBS check fee (£49). This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
