Diabetes Screener

Job Reference: J112-A-18-2312

£18,813.00 Annual Salary

Our screeners are at the heart of EMIS Care, spending their time on the ground, helping our patients to live longer healthier lives. As one of our screeners you`ll run local clinics to see our patients and photograph their eyes to assess for diabetic retinophathy. We`ll need you to be empathetic and able to talk to patients about their images on a daily basis. In this role, you`ll be supported whilst undertaking your training, but once that`s completed will be working largely unsupervised in a pressured environment, so a cool head is essential! All in all, we want you to be customer and people focused, caring about our patients and being passionate about delivering an exceptional service at all times.

This role will be based in BAnes, although on occasion you may be asked to cover a clinic in a neighbouring county such as Swindon & Salisbury. Where possible, we`ll try and keep you in clinics close to where you live, however there may be the need for you to travel further afield, so a full UK driving licence and flexibility is essential.

Our team

Working with other screeners, you`ll be mentored and supported by our screener/graders and team leaders, to ensure you understand and learn everything you need to deliver an exceptional service to our patients.

Who you`ll be

We want to make sure you are set for success; This isn`t all about your skills and that is why we would love to talk to you even if perhaps you don`t fit all of the below.

  • customer focused with brilliant inter personal skills
  • willingness to learn - as we`ll put you through the necessary qualification
  • organised and able to prioritise tasks
  • good problem-solving skills
  • able to work under pressure
  • any previous experience working with the public is ideal
  • minimum of 5 GCSEs including grades A-C in English, Maths and a Science subject or equivalent
  • a full driving licence and preferably your own transport (clinic times can vary and early morning collection of equipment is occasionally involved in the role, which cannot always be facilitated with local public transport)

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
