Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.


Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk and District General Hospital. This includes adults’ and children’s accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women’s and children’s services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.


The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.


The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.


A temporary opportunity has arisen for an Ophthalmic technician to undertake sessions within the Ophthalmology department of Southport & Ormskirk NHS Trust.


The successful applicant will provide technical services including visual acuity assessment, visual fields, optical coherence tomography, fundal photography/digital imaging. The post holder will work with and as part of the Ophthalmic team of Ophthalmologists, Orthoptists, Optometrists and Nursing staff, administrative & clerical staff.


The post holder will need excellent communication skills and be able to work unsupervised. Previous experience preferred.


The post will involve working at both hospital sites i.e that of Southport District General Hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital.


Please note, this post will be subject to Enhanced DBS Check + Children's & Adults' Barred Lists.
