Bank Senior Community Healthcare Assistant

Northern Devon Healthcare Trust is looking for highly motivated, committed and experienced Senior Community Healthcare Assistants to join our Staff Bank team at the Northern Devon District Hospital based in Barnstaple.

Our bank service aims to supply appropriately skilled staff to cover temporary shortages. Joining the bank provides you with an excellent opportunity to gain insight and experience into community care while providing you with the flexibility to choose your own working hours.

The post holder will work as part of the community nursing team providing nursing care to patients in the home environment or appropriate care setting.

The post holder will work under the direction of the Nurse (Community) and Nurse Specialist (Community) and registered nurse.

The post holder may contribute in the assessment of care needs and the delivery of planned care under delegation and direction of the registered nurse.

You will need to have significant experience in care and a caring and compassionate attitude, specific experience of working in community care, excellent communication skills and understand confidentiality.

You will be able to demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills and the ability to deliver high standards of patient care. You will need to be able to work flexibly, using your own initiative and be able to function as part of a team.

We provide support to avoid hospital admissions, and if an admission is necessary, we try to make each patient’s stay in hospital as short and effective as possible before working with them on a safe discharge home.
