A programme of testing New Care Models in tertiary mental health services began in 2017 with the aim of bringing patients closer to home to maintain a better connection with their families and friends, and improve how they interact with local services.

This programme delegates responsibility for some tertiary mental health in-patient services budget and commissioning from NHSE to local provider partnerships, so they can ensure funding is spent as effectively as possible. The Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) programme is one of these New Care Models.

Through a provider collaborative the commissioning of new clinical pathways with more community-interventions the CAMHS New Care Model aims to reduce occupied bed days outside the partnership, reduce the average distance someone is cared for away from home and enable children and young people to recover sooner, closer to home.

As a new member of staff to Devon Partnership NHS Trust you will be required to attend a full induction programme at the beginning of your employment. The content and length of this programme will depend on your new job role and where you will be working. This can be between one day for non-clinical staff and up to 10 days for inpatient clinical staff.
