We wish to recruit to this key and expert occupational therapy clinical leadership position. The post holder will support our continued development of an occupation-focused, socially inclusive approach across 2gether NHS Foundation Trust’s services for and with people who use our services in Gloucestershire and Herefordshire. The current post-holder is retiring and the vacancy offers an opportunity to further develop a well-established and highly valued approach to care, inclusion, recovery and health promotion through partnership working.

Our specialist services for people experiencing mental illness and services for people with learning disabilities are in the process of merging with Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust. This represents an additional and exciting opportunity to further progress an integrated approach to mental and physical health care and health promotion / prevention. The Consultant Occupational Therapist will be of pivotal importance to clinically lead the transformation of services in our new organisation. The post-holder will also influence clinical developments in our local Integrated Care System and be part of our strong network of Allied Health Professionals.

The Consultant Occupational Therapist responsibilities include specialist practice leadership, education and evaluation. The post-holder will provide intervention in our communities and alongside clinical teams to lead the implementation of occupation-focused, evidence based practice, in line with clinical strategy.

The Consultant Occupational Therapist will also have a clinical role to ensure that service experience and outcome information is gathered, analysed and influences change in practice settings. The post holder will work with service users, carers and communities to ensure co-production of new initiatives, teaching and research activity.

You will need to be an HCPC registered Occupational Therapist and have significant experience as a senior clinical practitioner and leader in relevant occupational therapy settings. Evidence of advanced academic achievement to at least Master’s degree level (or working towards this) in a relevant subject area is essential. You will be able to demonstrable track record of success in developing high performing services to ensure that service users receive the highest quality, evidence based experiences with the best possible socially inclusive outcomes.

This post requires the post holder to be able to undertake all statutory and mandatory training and post holders must be able to undertake physical interventions. Fitness for physical intervention will be assessed by Occupational Health.

Applicants should note that all appointments to 2gether NHS Foundation Trust (excluding Medical Staffing appointments) are subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probation period.

Please be aware that all employees of the Trust who need to have a DBS check in order to carry out their role, will be required to repay the cost, which is currently £50 for an enhanced check or £32 for a standard check.

Flexible working arrangements will be considered. Any request will be set against genuine operational requirements and limitations and it is not obligatory for a manager to accede to the request.

As part of the Trust requirement to practice safely all internal applicants, including bank staff, are required to be up to date with statutory and mandatory training, or have booked dates for expired training.

For positions Band 8a and above there is a requirement to participate in an on-call rota to ensure a high quality of care for patients at all times and continued support to all staff with access to the right knowledge and expertise.
