Westways is an 18-bedded, mixed-gender, rehabilitation inpatient ward, located in Bethlem Royal Hospital. We cater for working age adults who are residents of the borough of Croydon in South London. Our focus is providing 24 hour rehabilitation, treatment and care for people with severe and enduring mental ill health/psychosis problems. We strive to help people move forward within a 9-month care pathway.


We are about to embark on AIMS accreditation and a process to review and refine our models of care. We need new staff to be ready for the challenges of maintaining great standards of care while simultaneously critiquing ward practices to ensure standards and success rates can be pushed even higher.


Using a recovery principles and the recovery star, we personalise care planning to the greatest possible degree. We help people move towards greater autonomy, self-managing their illness and preparing for optimal independence in the community. Our team includes people from a range of health and social care professions. We offer specialised services to improve the physical and mental well being and social inclusion of individuals with psychosis, particularly with complex care needs. Our team work closely with families and carers using a behavioural family therapy approach, supporting them to cope and facilitate the building of positive relationships. Social skills and networks are often key to a person's successful transition from in-patient ward to community accommodation.


Building a staff team of innovative, creative staff is helping us provide a thoughtful, personal care process to people who need a bridge to more independent living. We are particularly interested in hearing from positive, dynamic and enthusiastic RNs, who enjoy participating in a range of activities with service users and supporting recovery journeies. We welcome applications from qualified RMNs, RNLDs - or from students who will qualify in 3 months or less.
