The pharmacy department has exciting development opportunities for two highly motivated pharmacists ready to take the next step in their career. If you wish to be part of a dynamic and innovative pharmacy team, join us as a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist, providing services to a variety of areas within the Trust.

You will be a highly valued member of the pharmacy team and a role model for junior pharmacists. You will demonstrate the highest level of commitment to patient safety whilst contributing towards the Cost Improvement Programme and medicines governance agenda. You will work closely with multidisciplinary clinical and managerial teams.

The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering a clinical pharmacy service to a range of specialities and will have completed or near completed a post graduate diploma in Clinical Pharmacy practice. You will be committed to delivering a high standard of pharmaceutical care and demonstrate excellent communication and mentoring skills. You will have strong prioritisation and time management skills enabling you to work efficiently and effectively.

Dorset County Hospital (400 beds) was officially opened in May 1998 and has a bright spacious and friendly working environment, located within easy walking distance of the historic centre of Dorchester, which is eight miles from the Jurassic Coast and within minutes of areas of outstanding natural beauty.

Dorchester itself offers a bustling social scene with a mix of modern development of shops, restaurants, cinema, and festivals and specialist markets. There are direct train links to London and the South West including Bristol and Bath.

The purpose-built Pharmacy provides a clinical pharmacy service to Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The dispensary benefits from an ARX robot installation, a Prescription Tracking System and the Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration is in use in the majority of the hospital.

We are an innovative forward thinking department entering an exciting new phase. A series of in-house developments are underway, giving the opportunity for successful candidates to be involved in dynamic projects which offer professional progression.

Please note the hours will be:

37.5 hours per week with on-call commitment and participation in the weekend and bank holiday working rota.
