Cumbria Health on Call (CHoC)

Cumbria Health on Call Ltd (CHoC) is a not-for-profit Social Enterprise providing out of hours (OOH) primary care to the population of Cumbria in addition to a number of in-hours services. The OOH element of service provides care, treatment and support over 68% of the week for some 500,000 people over a land mass of 2,613 square miles.

CHoC was rated as ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission following an inspection in November 2016. The organisation also received excellent feedback from a survey conducted by Healthwatch Cumbria, an independent report into patient experiences of the CHoC service, and most recently CHoC was nationally recognised at the NHS70 Parliamentary Awards, winning the Excellence in Primary Care award.

Are you interested in developing your specialist skills and knowledge?

Funding has been secured to offer exciting opportunities for enthusiastic GPs to undertake Post-CCT Fellowships with Cumbria Health on Call.

Post-CCT Fellowships are aimed at any GPs who wish to develop extended skills, selecting from (and subject to availability in) any one of the above fields.

The role (totalling 9 sessions per week) will comprise a combination of 3-4 sessions of standard General Practice, 1-2 sessions of professional development and 3-4 sessions on particular project work.

Working to a job plan agreed with the host trust or organisation you will experience a variety of work and have the opportunity to cultivate skills which will develop a new class of GP, capable of bridging the gap between primary and secondary care.
