South Central Ambulance Service is currently recruiting Band 5 NMC registered Telephone Triage Nurses to join our Clinical Coordination Centres based in Otterbourne, Hampshire.

 

If you have consolidated your training within an acute hospital setting or perhaps you have a number of years under your belt as a Band 5; and you are seeking a new challenge why not join our team of telephone triage clinicians.  You will have the opportunity to expand your current knowledge, utilise current skills and progress your career within the fast paced environment of telephone triage.  

 

This role offers an initial ten week full time training programme that will equip you to carry out appropriate triage and recommend suitable care pathways to patients.  With supervision and a competency framework over a 12 month period leading to remuneration within the Agenda for Change Band 6 pay scale. 

 

Working within the clinical coordination centre you will handle calls from the general public and other healthcare professionals, the perfect candidate will meet the following criteria:

 

Essential:

 

  • NMC or HCPC registration with current professional experience

  • Registered general nurse (RN1, RNA)

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Good level of computer literacy

  • Ability to communicate effectively

 

Desirable:

 

  • Patient assessment experience (We will train you in these skills as part of your development)

  • Motivated towards further professional development

  • Flexible working approach

 

Applicants should be prepared to work across a rota to cover key service demands at evening, weekends and Bank Holidays.

 

Successful candidates will be required to complete an initial ten weeks full time training programme. Covering internal systems, NHS Pathways assessments and call centre mentoring.
