Respiratory Specialist Physiotherapist (Rotational)

We are looking for a Specialist Physiotherapist to join our integrated Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Team at North Devon District Hospital. This is a rotational post across the Respiratory and the Medical Rehabilitation teams which covers the areas of Surgical, Medical, Frailty, Intensive Care and the Medical Assessment Unit. There is also a requirement to see Paediatric patients.

The applicant will need to have a specialist interest in Respiratory Physiotherapy and be willing to work in a variety of areas including working on a rehabilitation ward to meet the specific needs of patients who have dementia or cognitive impairments. You will be expected to work as an autonomous practitioner, to be up to date with evidence based practice and to be able to assess and treat patients who are acutely unwell and have complex presentations.

You will be required to support the Physiotherapy Advanced Practitioner to plan and deliver Specialist Physiotherapy to patients in the acute setting and in some areas support patients post discharge in the Community.

The trust is keen to support staff to develop sound clinical skills through regular supervision and internal and external continuing professional development opportunities. We have great facilities in the educational centre for Physiotherapists to use the simulation suite for training and development. There will be opportunities to develop your skills as a clinical supervisor with Students, Junior Therapists and Therapy Support Workers.

You will be required to work on the Respiratory on call rota.

This team sits in a wider team which consists of Inpatient Orthopaedics, Neuro Rehabilitation, Outpatient Therapy, Learning Disabilities and Community services across Health and Social Care.
