We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Children and Young people’s nurses to join our friendly team. There has never been a more exciting time to join the team at Salisbury NHS Foundation trust and we have a number of opportunities available. The permanent role is for a Band 5 Children’s Nurse working across the Day Surgery Unit and the Children’s department. The Day Surgery Unit is a friendly fast paced and dynamic nurse-led environment, where both adult and paediatric patients undergo Day Surgery procedures including ENT, max fax and oral surgery, urology, ophthalmic, general, plastics and orthopedics.

It is a full-time position, although job share and part-time hours would be considered. You will be based on the Childrens Ward/ Day Assessment unit but your priority will be to provide care for Children admitted to Day Surgery Unit. The hours of work will be Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays. You will work collaboratively with your adult colleagues and support them in completing their Paediatric competencies. You will not be expected to nurse adults.

You will need to be flexible, adaptable and, passionate about children’s nursing. You should have good interpersonal and communication skills and have the ability to work well within teams. You will act as an advocate for Children and their families. Experience with mentoring students and safeguarding children would be advantageous as well as 12 months post qualification experience

The Children's unit is a bright, purpose-built unit and consists of Outpatients, Sarum Ward and Woodlands Day Assessment Unit. Our children’s ward, Sarum, is a 16 bedded unit and staff care for children with varying specialties; this includes general Paediatrics, orthopaedics ENT, dermatology, general surgery, and Burns and plastics. On days when there are no children or young people on the Day Surgery lists, you will work alongside your paediatric nursing colleagues on the Children’s Unit or as part of the Paediatric Advice and Support Service in the Emergency Department.
