CATS Extended Scope Physiotherapist

Job Reference: J62-SIR649

Employer:
Sirona care and health CIC
Department:
Physiotherapy
Location:
Cossham Hospital, Bristol
Salary:
£34,168 - £41,212

We are Sirona care & health, a Community Interest Company committed to providing local communities with a range of high quality specialist health and social care services across South Gloucestershire, parts of Bristol and Bath and North East Somerset. For us, it’s about the personal approach; we take pride in what we do and deliver the high standard of care that we’d expect for ourselves and our families.

In return we offer an excellent range of benefits including generous holiday entitlement, paid enhancements for bank holiday/night working (where applicable), a contributory pension scheme (including, for some roles, the NHS pension scheme), a planned induction program, extensive learning and development opportunities, health and wellbeing programmes, flexible working patterns, staff excellence awards, in-house physiotherapy support and more!

The Musculoskeletal (MSK) service delivers physiotherapy and triage services for people with musculoskeletal problems or orthopaedic conditions in the South Gloucestershire area. Our aim is to offer excellent assessment and treatment of people with musculoskeletal problems in a timely manner; clinicians are predominantly physiotherapists and extended scope physiotherapists (ESP’S) but we do also have GPs working for the service.

The ESP role is based within the Clinical/Spinal assessment and Treatment Service. This is an Adult interface clinic between primary and secondary care whose goal is to provide patients with Musculoskeletal conditions with a specialist assessment and management plan. These patients who traditionally would have been referred to secondary care are now managed in a community setting and receive an expert opinion on their condition in a timely manner

We are seeking an experienced musculoskeletal clinician to join the Clinical Assessment and Treatment (CATS) team. The CATS team clinically assesses peripheral joint presentations with the Spinal Assessment and Treatment (SATS) team seeing spinal presentations, however the teams work closely together and a broad knowledge of both areas is essential.

The role of the ESP is to provide an advanced musculoskeletal assessment for patients both in and outside of the standard scope of musculoskeletal physiotherapy, including the selective scope of ordering investigations such as MRI scans, X-Rays and other diagnostics as required. For this post an injection qualifications is desirable.

As part of the team the successful candidate will be involved in service development, evaluation and audit. They will also deliver mentoring and teaching within the department and to colleagues externally.

The senior clinical team which includes GP’s, ESP’s and senior Physiotherapists partake in regular clinical observations and peer review, clinical teaching, management support and appraisals.

The successful candidate will work within an outpatient clinic setting across the 3 bases depending on service need.

The working arrangements will be Monday- Friday, the hours are flexible to meet the needs of the service and to ensure maximum cover, this could include hours between 8-8pm but this is negotiable and flexible. The service does not currently operate over the weekend or bank holidays.
