The Community Learning Difficulties Team provides a specialist multi-disciplinary approach to meet the health needs of people with Learning Difficulties

We provide person centred approaches to meet an individual’s identified health need.

The physiotherapy team provides a highly specialist physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management for adults with learning difficulties in the community. We work with the multidisciplinary team and liaise with relevant professionals, agencies and providers

We are seeking a Specialist Physiotherapist to provide person-centred assessment, rehabilitation and management for people with long term complex disabilities and learning difficulties including the promotion of health and prevention of secondary complications.

The post holder will work with supervision from the lead physiotherapist. They will be able to undertake skilled and specialist assessment of service users to formulate individualised management and treatment plans using evidence based clinical reasoning skills and utilising a wide range of treatment skills and options including hydrotherapy.

They will work with service users and their carers towards shared goals providing advice education and training and assessing for and providing specialist equipment.

Core hours are between 8.30 am and 5pm across 5 days per week.

For this post you must.


  • Hold recognised degree level physiotherapy qualification and be registered with relevant professional Body (HCPC).


    You should have a depth of knowledge of principles and practices within physiotherapy in a neurological setting.

    Evidence of ability to resolve varied problems using sound logic and taking into consideration relevant implications and able to demonstrate evidence of good decision making.

    Experience of community working

    Good levels of IT literacy and presentation skills.

    Sound knowledge and experience of hydrotherapy


Experience of helping to develop team members and of seeking ways to improve services.

Knowledge and understanding of the legislation that applies to care and health work.

The service provides therapy interventions in service user’s homes, place of residence or within the local community across South Gloucestershire therefore a full current UK driving licence and access to vehicle is required.
