A vacancy has arisen for a Band 7 registered Clinical Scientist/Bioinformatician within the Sheffield Diagnostic Genetics Service (SDGS). Applications from registered Clinical Scientists from other STP disciplines are welcomed.

SDGS is a merged laboratory committed to an interdisciplinary workforce in line with MSC. We are part of the Yorkshire and North East Genomic Laboratory Hub (Y&NE GLH) for NHSEngland, but also provide extensive services for non-NHSEngland UK and international referrals, and have active research & development and clinical trials programmes, collaborating with local universities and with industry partners.

The vacancy is within our Constitutional/Rare Disease and Bioinformatics Services, where SDGS is leading on a number of NHSEngland Specialist Services, and will also involve validation and reporting of 100,000 Genomes Project results. The post is subject to rotation into other areas in the laboratory. The post holder will have the opportunity to develop highly marketable knowledge and skills.

The successful applicant will have appropriate HCPC registration (or be close to completing STP training), will be prepared to train in new areas, be an excellent communicator and contribute well to teamwork.

Interviews will be held on Tuesday, 9 April 2019 and candidates will be asked to prepare and deliver a presentation.

This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
