The Pharmacy Department at North Devon District Hospital is looking for a medicines management technician to join our clinical team,  providing a ward focussed service to our medical and surgical wards and working to ensure our pharmacy and medicines management service continue to meet our patients and user’s needs.

The role will involve identifying patients pharmaceutical needs, assessing patients own medication, carrying out medicines reconciliation, providing medication counselling, undertaking audit work, facilitating patient discharges, supporting with training and mentoring  and participating in dispensing and checking duties.

The successful candidate will become a key member of the multidisciplinary team supporting work at ward level and in the dispensary.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential as is the ability to work independently and as part of a team, being well organised, being able to adapt to changing demands and being committed to providing a high quality service and patient care.

This post is suitable for those registered technicians who already have appropriate accredited checking and medicines management qualifications. However, we would welcome applications from newly qualified registered technicians and community pharmacy technicians without these qualifications who would be keen to work towards a Band 5 post and to achieve the qualifications within twelve months of appointment.
