An opportunity has arisen to appoint a Specialist Practitioner for the county-wide Herefordshire CAMHS Team to work with children, young people and their families. Improving mental health services is high on the agenda in Herefordshire. Working with partner agencies, a new Children and Young People’s Plan is being developed with a dedicated work stream focussed on emotional and mental health needs. The CAMHS team currently delivers specialist interventions to children and young people with complex needs and also to those with a learning disability who have mental health difficulties. The team uses the CAPA model. There are strong links to local agencies, organisations and hospitals and opportunities to develop professional links across the 2gether trust with services for children and young people in Herefordshire.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of the needs of children and young people, will have the opportunity to develop skills and expertise in CAMHS and provide clinical support for other members of the multi-disciplinary team. They will provide expertise in delivering high level interventions in cases where there are issues of disengagement, vulnerability and complexity for children young people and their families. They will offer a high level of mental health expertise and specialist interventions in assessment and service delivery as well as support the day to day delivery of the CAPA model. There is a strong commitment to professional support including reflective practice, supervision and CPD.

This post requires the post holder to be able to undertake all statutory and mandatory training and post holders must be able to undertake physical interventions. Fitness for physical intervention will be assessed by Occupational Health.

Applicants should note that all appointments to 2gether NHS Foundation Trust (excluding Medical Staffing appointments) are subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probation period.

Please be aware that all employees of the Trust who need to have a DBS check in order to carry out their role, will be required to repay the cost, which is currently £50 for an enhanced check or £32 for a standard check.

As part of the Trust requirement to practice safely all internal applicants, including bank staff, are required to be up to date with statutory and mandatory training, or have booked dates for expired training.
