Digital Communications Manager

Job Reference: J230-DCM

Employer:
Human Tissue Authority
Department:
Communications
Location:
London Victoria
Salary:
£34,301 - £42,046

The Human Tissue Authority (HTA) is the national independent regulator for organisations that remove, store and use human tissue for research, medical treatment, post-mortem examination, teaching and display in public. We also give approval for organ and bone marrow donations from living people.

We aim to maintain confidence in the system by ensuring that human tissue is used safely, ethically, and with proper consent. We were established in 2005 following events in the 1990s that revealed a culture in hospitals of removing and retaining human organs and tissue without consent, so ensuring appropriate consent in the use of human tissue is one of our guiding principles.

You will bring a wealth of experience and expertise in digital communications
As our Digital Communications Manager you will lead on the development of our digital communications, including the HTA website, social media, and other digital channels.

You will be an expert in website management
Previous experience of working on digital engagement campaigns is highly desirable, as is an excellent working knowledge of website content management systems, search engine optimisation, and web analytics.

You will lead on the redesign and development of our website, and be involved in the planning, designing, and distribution of digital content, so excellent project management skills are a must. You will also work with colleagues across the organisation to ensure we provide up to date, accessible, and clear information for professionals and the public.

You will be an excellent written communicator with a flare for design
Exemplary writing and editorial skills are essential for this role, which involves producing a number of online and hard copy publications, ranging from the e-newsletters to our Annual Review publication. It would be desirable, though not essential, for the successful candidate to have experience of using graphic design software (such as Adobe InDesign, or similar), and if not it is essential that you are willing to learn.

You will bring a calm, professional demeanor to everything you do
The role will also involve dealing with, and reporting on, often complex and sensitive enquiries from our public and professional stakeholders, as well as supporting the various works of the Head of Communications and other members of the wider team as required.
