Our national, specialist and forensic services include:

  • Medium secure services on the St Bernard’s Hospital site in Ealing
  • Services for people with complex and severe personality disorder at the Cassel Hospital in Richmond
  • High secure services at Broadmoor Hospital in Berkshire

West London NHS Trust provides a full range of local mental health services to the London Boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow CSU as well as specialist and forensic mental health services, including high secure services to a much wider catchment area. The area has great transport link, which makes Hammersmith and Fulham a very attractive area to work.

 

Hammersmith and Fulham Mental Health Unit is located at the back of Charing Cross hospital. It comprises of two male admission wards, one female admission ward, one elderly ward, and one intensive acute ward.

 

A vacancy has arisen for a Band 7 Ward Manager post on our intensive acute ward. The candidate must have a minimum eighteen months experience at Band 6, preferably on an inpatient or intensive acute ward. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and possess excellent leadership skills.

 

 

 

The unit provides high quality care for adult service users who need a period of inpatient treatment. The acute wards will provide a safe environment for service users suffering from severe and enduring mental health problems and cannot be safely treated /managed in the community. The intensive acute ward (also known as PICU) provides treatment for those who are deemed risky for an open ward due to behaviour which is exacerbated by the severity of their mental health needs.

 

 

 

Service provision is in line with NICE guidelines, National and Local CPA policies and West London Standards of Care. There is currently a focus on further developing and demonstrating service user involvement, improving patient experience, patient and staff safety, and the development of staff.

 

If you are an experienced clinician who wants to lead and further develop a skilled and motivated intensive acute team, this is the opportunity for you. You will be expected demonstrate leadership skills, as well as establishing and maintaining a positive multi-disciplinary culture that suits the purpose, and also working closely with the Matron and service manager.

 

Candidates need to demonstrate sound managerial and clinical skills. You also need to be forward thinking, motivated and experienced in working with service users who are suffering from acute mental health problems.
