An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, flexible individual to join the Community Paediatric Service as an administrator. This post is part-time working 9am-5pm Monday and Tuesday.

The post holder will be part of a busy team providing a comprehensive administrative and secretarial service to support the Community Paediatricians and Advanced Nurse Practitioners who care for children with disabilities and complex needs.

A significant part of the role will be spent dealing with incoming calls to the service relating to appointments and other queries. The role will also include typing, data inputting, filing, photocopying, booking appointments and other tasks as set out in the job description as well as occasional reception duties – greeting patients to clinics, confirming demographic information and dealing with enquiries as appropriate. The applicant will be expected to have good interpersonal and IT skills and be willing to learn and develop within the team.

You will have recent, relevant experience in an administrative or secretarial role, knowledge of office procedures and of Microsoft Word applications. You must have a level 2 qualification in a business administration related subject, for example: NVQ, OCR/RSA, City and Guilds, GCSE (grade A-C). Previous reception or customer service experience is essential for this role.

Occasional cover for reception at other sites is required and therefore candidates must be able to travel independently across the county.

Please note, only candidates who meet all of the essential elements specified in the person specification will be considered for interview.

For an informal discussion regarding this post please contact Tina Gaughan. Tina.gaughan@nhs.net or 01905 681054.

PLEASE NOTE: All new appointments are subject to 6 months’ probation period.

If the same or similar vacancy arises within the recruitment period of this post or up to 3 months afterwards, the Trust may chose not to re advertise, but to select a suitable candidate from this interview pool. The new post may differ in terms of the base, hours available (full or part time) or contract type (permanent or fixed term) and therefore you are encouraged to apply for advertised posts but specify on your application form your preferences.

In the event of exceptionally high levels of response, we reserve the right to close the post before the date stated in order to prevent the number of applications received being unmanageable. You are advised to submit your completed application as soon as possible to have the best chance of being considered.

Applicants must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats.

**If the position being applied for requires a DBS check to be undertaken on you, it will be a condition of your employment that you have subscribed and continue to subscribe to the DBS Update Service. New employees to the Trust are required to pay the fee for the initial DBS check (this will be deducted from their first months’ salary) and the annual subscription (£13) to the DBS Update Service. Internal applicants are required to pay the annual subscription fee only (£13). Further information on the update service can be found on our website link ‘DBS Update Service.’

The Trust offers a preceptorship year for newly qualified nurses and AHP's and attendance at preceptorship programmes is a condition of employment.
