We provide a large number of mental and physical health services. Poor physical and mental health are linked and our ambition is for people to have their physical and mental health problems identified, assessed and treated at the same time.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 6-month fixed term locum consultant liaison psychiatrist to join the Hounslow Liaison Psychiatry team based at West Middlesex Hospital. This post would suit an enthusiastic or new consultant who is interested to work in liaison psychiatry. This liaison leadership role would be ideally for someone with a balance of excellent clinical and communication skills. The post is to cover a vacancy before the completion of substantive consultant recruitment. The vacancy was created due to the change of role of a consultant into leadership position and another consultant working part time.

 

This team has been operating since 2012 and is accredited as ‘excellent’ through the Royal College of Psychiatrists PLAN accreditation scheme, along with our other two Liaison services at West London Mental Health Trust (WLMHT). The team offers assessment and brief intervention to patients in all areas of the hospital, with a focus on the busy Emergency and Urgent Care Departments, where there are excellent relations with staff.

 

Our Acute Trust and Clinical Commissioning Group encourage innovation and collaboration allowing scope for service development, particularly in the care of patients with long term conditions.

 

The consultants work in partnership with the Liaison Team manager and are supported by the Clinical Lead and Service Manager for Liaison Psychiatry Services. There is ample peer support available through the liaison and perinatal consultant body and Hounslow mental health teams.
