As part of the 2gether NHS Foundation Trust, the Children & Young People Service (CYPS) provides high quality specialist mental health services to children and young people up to their 18th birthday and has locality bases in Stroud, Cheltenham and Gloucester.

The post will be part of a pilot of a new liaison service within Gloucester Royal Hospital. The purpose of the post would be to deliver liaison services to those children, young people and families living with acute and chronic physical health conditions.  There would also be the expectation that the successful candidate supports colleagues to undertake Self Harm risk assessments within Gloucester Royal Hospital when required.

We are seeking a highly enthusiastic and committed mental health clinician to join this evolving service. The successful candidate will have the necessary professional based transferable skills and knowledge to be confident in delivering standardised treatment packages of care for complex acute or chronic physical health presentations under the supervision of senior staff. The role will involve an element of delivering group work as well as delivering staff training. The candidate must feel confident to be involved with multi-agency discussions as well as to undertake initial specialist assessments.

Alongside this, the candidate should have experience of undertaking Self Harm risk assessments, mental state examinations, clinical formulations and robust clinical risk management plans. The service also welcomes those clinicians who have and the appropriate transferable skills whose clinical experience is not CYPS based.  Experience within a hospital and community environment would be beneficial.

This developing service may in the future, be part of an all age liaison team with the possibility of some weekend working that the post holder may be expected to contribute to.

Our service is proud of its strong multi-disciplinary ethos within its clinical delivery and has robust clinical supervision, workload management and Continuing Professional Development structures in place. 

The successful applicant must have the necessary professional qualification, including current registration as outlined in the person specification i.e. nursing, OT and other allied health professionals. All CYPS Registered Practitioners hold a generic job description, however specialist skills and responsibilities related to working within this work role will be clearly reflected within a personalised job plan

This post requires the post holder to be able to undertake all statutory and mandatory trainingand post holders must be able to undertake physical interventions. Fitness for physical intervention will be assessed by Occupational Health.

Applicants should note that all appointments to 2gether NHS Foundation Trust (excluding Medical Staffing appointments) are subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probation period.

Please be aware that all employees of the Trust who need to have a DBS check in order to carry out their role, will be required to repay the cost, which is currently £50 for an enhanced check or £32 for a standard check.
