Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Community Paediatrician to join the existing team of Paediatricians at the Great Western Hospital, Swindon. This post is to cover a new position. Experience in assessment and diagnosis of ASD/ADHD is essential. The post is to start as soon as possible. The appointment is for a 10PA contract, with no on-call duties.


The Community Paediatric service is going through a period of development and this is an exciting time to join an expanding team with opportunity to develop other areas of interest within Community Paediatrics.


The GreatWesternHospital opened in December 2002. There are 542 beds with a 60-bedded Intermediate Care Unit on site. All usual services are provided and the Trust has a co-located Birth Centre.The Community Paediatric service is based within the acute hospital with an integrated acute community service.

The successful applicant should possess MRCP (UK) from the Royal College of Physicians (or equivalent) and should be within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview or currently hold CCT or equivalent.

Swindon is a thriving town set between two designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Cotswolds to the North and West, and the Marlborough Downs and North Wessex to the South.


The Trust catchment population is currently over 300,000. Neighbouring rural towns and villages are attractive and accessible and include Marlborough, Cirencester and Malmsbury. There is a thriving local theatre and two large cinema complexes. Other cultural opportunities abound in London, Bristol, Oxford and Bath, all within 1 hour travel time.

All candidates are required to pay for their own DBS check where applicable. Standard DBS check costs £26 and will be recovered from your first pay; Enhanced DBS check costs £44 and will be split and recovered over the first 2 pay.

Bank posts requiring a DBS check; payment must be made prior to commencing.

Apprentices are exempt from payment.
