An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Research and Development department. We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and committed individual to expand our high-performing commercial studies team; providing an excellent service to Sponsors, investigators and research teams.

You will need to have an innovative and positive outlook in the face of challenges and be personally committed to the delivery of excellent service. The post holder will be tasked with supporting the rapid set-up and effective conduct of studies, so that researchers can gather the robust evidence needed to improve treatments for NHS patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong team work ethic, sense of accountability, accompanied by an ability to work under considerable pressure at times.

The Commercial Research Co-coordinator has responsibility for developing and facilitating commercially sponsored research being undertaken at NNUH, including commercial research registered on the NIHR Clinical Research Portfolio. They will do this by improving processes and ways of working, building relationships with key staff in companies as well as in NNUH and Clinical Research Network: Eastern (CRNE) and supporting the research team. Administration of the processes will be required at all stages from Expression of Interest to facilitation of Trust Capacity and Capability through to study closure.

In recognition of the growing proportion of research that involves the Trust, the University of East Anglia (UEA) and Quadram Institute of Bioscience (QIB), the Commercial Research Coordinator will work closely with research support colleagues in these organisations. As a result, they will need to ensure that commercial research applications and projects are initiated, administered and completed according to the requirements of all organisations. The post holder will also act as a point of contact for researchers to promote their healthcare research to commercial companies and to explore other business opportunities.

The post holder will be responsible for the successful management of the Trust’s commercial research contracts and associated agreements and in liaison with other senior members of the Office will facilitate, develop and support commercial research contract management in the Trust.

Working in partnership with the other Co-coordinators, the post holder will jointly provide a comprehensive co-ordinated service for all research within the Trust, for example by ensuring an integrated system that provides a proportionate approach to risk assessment and management in the conduct of research approved by the Trust.

In collaboration with the Research Grants Co-coordinator, provide line management support for the Research and Study Recruitment Facilitators (Research Facilitators) and supervise their activities in relation to commercial research proposals.

Full time: 37.5 hours per week
