Sheffield Children’s NHS foundation Trust Estates department provides an in-house facilities management service provision for the Trusts’ Estate. Providing comprehensive maintenance and repair service to the Sheffield Childrens Hospitals NHS foundation Trusts property portfolio, with the main site being situated on Western Bank Sheffield. An opportunity has arisen to appoint a new member of staff to the vacant post of Maintenance Assistant. For specific scope of this role please consult the job description and the person specification.

The successful candidate will be a suitably qualified and or experienced in building maintenance, and will be expected to provide day to day planned and reactive maintenance support within the established estates operational team, as well as undertaking minor project works. Ideally the candidate will be apprentice trained in a construction, engineering or maintenance trade or have equivalent practical experience. The role is demanding as we are seeking someone with suitable experience of a Healthcare estates environment who has the drive and commitment to assist in delivering the estates department agenda.

As a responsible member of a dedicated group you will be integral to the Estates department with main responsibilities for assisting in the delivery of maintenance, minor projects, and ensuring support to the dedicated clinical teams and support staff. You should be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of compliance, risk assessments and health and safety. The post holder will report to the Charge hand (Buildings) and the Senior Estates Manager. The post is based at Sheffield Childrens Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Western Bank site in the Estates office.

This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
